Google Grants Huawei 90-Day Temporary License

Google Grants Huawei 90-Day Temporary License 5

Things between Huawei and the US have taken a surprising turn. The United States government has granted a temporary license that allows Huawei to continue using Google’s Android services.

The move came after a major ban by the US administration which made prominent US tech conglomerates – Google, Intel, and Qualcomm cut off their business relationships with the Chinese giant.

The temporary license given will only be valid until the 19th of August 2019. It covers four major areas including the operations, maintenance, as well as support for existing fully operational network and equipments. This means that the Huawei device in your hands will be safe… for now.

Apart from that, Huawei is also still allowed to provide service and support for smartphones that were released into the market on or before 16th May 2019. This piece of news might be a little worrying for the HONOR 20 Pro that was recently launched by the company.

In addition, Huawei can still engage in any activity that is related to cybersecurity research (receive security vulnerability disclosures). The company can also continue its role in 5G development together with internationally-recognized industry-related organizations.

While the license does come as a solution, it is but temporary. The company has been working on its own operating system to curb this issue, and rumors are hinting it could be called “HongMeng”. Stay tuned to AXO for more updates on Huawei’s next move in its battle with the United States government.
