Samsung announced its new flagship with the introduction of two sizes instead of one. The fresh change to the predictable launch of the Galaxy Note series is purposefully strategised to be the best in the game, showcasing what an all-around market-leading phone should be.

The Galaxy Note 10 Plus is a closer successor to last year’s Note 9. With the widest Galaxy Note display ever, Samsung ensured the new flagship is made thinner; a plus for the display without the expected weight. Conversely, Note 10 is the most compact Galaxy Note made, giving users the ultimate productivity and creativity mechanism on-the-go, coupled with an updated Air Action capable S Pen.

Samsung is making tweaks to its Galaxy Note series capable of going head-to-head with popular current devices on the market. Nonetheless, they are seemingly careful with maintaining the differentiated positioning of their Galaxy S phones known for its powerful processors and quality cameras.

“Every element of the Galaxy Note10 was designed to help users achieve more…will help them do it faster and better.”DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.

The glass and metal body gives Note 10 and Note 10 Plus a sophisticated feel in addition to its traditional Galaxy Note attributes of squared-off edges and a stylus. What’s impressive is the almost non-existent bezels on the front screen, giving a larger display without the bulk. Besides the curved screen contributing to a wider screen view, the hole-punched front-facing camera introduced with the Galaxy S10 is even smaller on these flagships. Likewise, the fingerprint sensor lies underneath the screen.

On the topic of screens, the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus comes with Cinematic Infinity Display of 6.3-inch and 6.8-inch respectively. The new models feature Dynamic AMOLED with HDR10+ certification and Dynamic Tone Mapping, making photos and videos more stunning to even the most sophisticated eye.

Note 10 Plus houses a 4300 mAh battery while the Note 10 has a smaller 3500mAh battery. Both phones use the standard high-speed charging USB PD, where the Note 10 Plus is capable of charging with adapters up to 45W, cutting the charging time to just 30 minutes! The two flagships are a step up from the battery capacity offered in the Galaxy S10 Plus and S10 respectively. However, the price point raises the question of whether they can hold up against similar-sized battery devices in the market.

With all new releases, phone enthusiasts wonder about the existence of a headphone jack. Samsung has removed the headphone jack for a bigger battery. Hence users need to buy a dongle ($USD 9.99) to use the USB-C headphones provided in the box. On a much subjective note, the Bixby button is not included in these flagships. However, users can still access the assistant function through long-press on the power button.

The Galaxy Note 10 carries a price tag of $949 for 8GB RAM / 256GB storage while the Galaxy Note 10 Plus has two variants: $1,099 for 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, and $1,199 for 12GB RAM, 512GB storage. Available in 3 colours worldwide – Aura Pink, Aura Black, Aura Glow, whereas Aura Blue is only available in the States and through purchases from Samsung.com and BestBuy. Preorder starts from 8th August to 18th August 2019. All orders will be shipped on 23rd August 2019 with the rest of the world.
