On Boxing Day 2019, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has announced that a price adjustment will be coming to the Playstation Store in Malaysia. This is done in line with the government’s upcoming implementation of digital tax, a 6% tax will be imposed on all digital services from foreign content providers.
This tax implementation will begin from 8AM of the 1st of January 2020. However, for Sony’s case, the price update will only happen from the 4th to 6th of January 2020.
The tax is applicable to all items for purchase as well as subscription services from the Playstation Store in Malaysia. If you notice any price difference, don’t be alarmed. The amount shown at the checkout should be the correct one.
That’s not all, as SIE has mentioned that there is currently no price change for PS Plus subscriptions. There will also be no SST on any PS Store Wallet reloads.
So, if you’re planning on purchasing that game that’s been forever in your wishlist. Anytime before the 1st of January (to be safe) is a good time.
