Apple has finally unveiled its latest addition in the Airpods family – the Apple AirPods Pro. This new AirPod comes with a slightly new in-ear design, complete with Active Noise Cancellation and improved audio in a lightweight design.
“The new in-ear AirPods Pro sound amazing with Adaptive EQ, fit comfortably with flexible ear tips and have innovative Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode. We think customers are going to love this new addition to the AirPods family.” Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
The AirPods Pro work the same as the previous AirPods. Just opening the charging case near an iOS or iPadOS device and giving it a simple tap, the AirPods Pro are immediately paired to all the devices signed into the user’s iCloud® account. This includes:
- Apple Watch
- Apple TV
- iPod touch
Each AirPods Pro earbud comes with three different size ear tips that fits each individual’s ear. With the addition of the in-ear design, it provides a more firm fit and seal so that AirPods stay in place. Apart from that, it also reduces sound loss and enables ANC features. The Apple AirPods Pro are also sweat and water-resistant, making them great for those living an active lifestyle or those who are on-the-go alot.
On top of having Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), the AirPods Pro comes with Adaptive EQ. This feature allows the AirPods Pro to automatically tune low and mid frequencies of the music to the shape of an individual’s ear. In addition, it also has a Transparency Mode that lets the user listen to their music while still hearing surrounding environment sounds. This could prove useful for when they’re on the road or in hazardous areas.
Users can now switch between ANC and Transparency Mode by directly touching on the force sensor that’s positioned on the stem. Touching the force sensor can play, pause, skip tracks, and even answer and hang up calls. Besides that, users can also press the volume slider on their iPhone and iPad to control settings, or on Apple Watch by tapping on the AirPlay® icon while music is playing.
The AirPods Pro utilises Apple’s latest H1 chip that features 10 audio cores. This enables extremely low audio processing latency, while having real-time noise cancellation and high quality sound. All that, while still hearing for “Hey Siri” requests.
Apple claims that the AirPods Pro is capable of up to five hours of listening time. In the ANC mode, it can deliver up to four and a half hours of listening time, and up to three and half hours of talk time on a single charge. Paired with the wireless charging case, it’s capable of over 24 hours of listening time. Charging is done the same way, by placing the case on a Qi-certified charging mat or connecting it via a Lightning port.
